Healthy Schools

On Friday 24th October students, staff, family and friends are to walk together for 12 miles through the local countryside.  The purpose of the walk is:

1.  To promote physical activity for all.
2.  To raise awareness of the links between diet and exercise.
3.  To raise money for a team building day.

We would ask for your support of this event in the following ways:

1.  Help to prepare for the day, in terms of exercise and clothing.  More details of the 3 week preparation are on the school website.
2.  Help to find some sponsors.

We would also like to invite you to walk with us or to support at a checkpoint.  We hope very much that this will be a whole community event and open to all in an appropriate way.

Although it is intended that the majority of students walk the full distance we will operate a collection service with the school minibus.  How ever far students walk, we hope that everyone will lunch together.

The day will be well prepared and all aspects of safety observed.  The local police will also be informed.  Road crossings will be manned and First Aiders will be present.  A huge thankyou to LINCSLOOS toilets who will have toilets available on the route.  Fruit and healthy snacks will be provided by the canteen which are funded by Healthy Schools.

Once we have a clear indication of numbers, we will write again to give you more details of refreshments and canteen support etc.
